2.2.1 Design Details

The design of the SAN provides the following benefits:

2.2.1.1 Zones Considerations

  • McData 4500 switches only support one zoneset to configure and activateany point.

  • All zones in a fabric configured based on the world-wide names (WWN)of the nodes and storage system.

  • Default zones in fabric are disabled and all ports not in use aredisabled in order to avoid.

  • There are separate zones for each cluster, backup and management network.

  • All ports connecting to tape drives will have RSCN (Registered ChangeNotification) disabled in order to avoid the interruptions to backups.
